Job Summary

Torbay Clearance Services are an award winning South Devon business who are recruiting a General Manager for all aspects of the day-to-day running of our business.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who will be 'hands on' with our small friendly team.

Hard physical work will be a core part of the week's schedule and we are seeking a Manager who embraces our ethos and seeks to progress the business and the team members within it.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Physical hard work and lifting to assist the complete emptying of properties.

  • Clean full driving licence essential for our various vehicles.

  • Team management and co-ordination.

  • Liaising with our clients, many of whom are Solicitors or other professionals.

  • Maintaining a bright positive attitude and good sense of humour whilst remaining professional and empathetic.

  • Updating clients by phone and/ or email.

  • Updating and managing disposal and recycling receipts and values, and time management to job sheets.

  • Honest location and retention of items of value.

  • Occasional early start or later finish to complete daily procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Life experience and attitude more important than qualifications.

  • We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following:

  • removal or delivery work, auction room work, the services, rubbish removal, building or labouring, retail management and any previous employment which involved physical work, initiative, empathy, and team management and development.

  • Experience in waste management, or auction room experience an advantage.

  • Good communication skills essential.


  • Good working conditions and a pro-active team and management.

  • Generally Monday- Friday office hours, very limited weekend work, and no Bank Holiday work. Business naturally quiet at Christmas, so opportunity for Holiday leave throughout, if required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £23,000.00 to £25,000.00 year
